This is in reply to Bob Thresher's negative feedback left on this Ebay purchase...
I will try to give an honest discription of bikes and parts offered here. All bikes and parts are sold as is and have no warrenty expressed or implied. Delivery within 150 mile radius of Nashville, Tn is included once the reserve price has been met. Forward Air is also an option, but as of November 1, 2002, their rates have doubled for bikes...

Bob Thresher was the high bidder of this '77 XL 350 Honda...however Bob seems to be suffering buyer's remorse...
Bob claims I misrepresented the bike, and made false statements about it. Bob recieved the bike on or about 10/1/02. By 10/05/02, I had not heard from Bob if it had arrived in good condition from the trip. Bike was shipped from Nashville, Tn to Windsor Locks Conneticut via Forward Air. I emailed Bob to be sure he had gotten the bike. Yes and the steady streams of complaints began. It soon became apparent, at least, to me, that Bob either was expecting a BRAND NEW BIKE, OR HAD NO IDEA WHAT "ORIGINAL" meant. The daily complaints continued until , exasperated at by the attack on my character, I finally had to resort to blocking his email, something I've never had to do.Finally after a month, Bob posted negative feedback about his purchase. Why wait so long Bob??... Please read both this page and the following custom page and make a decision if the negative feedback is warrented..and more importantly if you feel comfortable doing business with me..Thanks for your time and I welcome your comments....pj

This page and the next will address Bob's claims.
Bob says there are dents in the gas tank...Anybody see any? The ad stated small scratches and dings, but I see no dents..
Included in the auction were several spares, that while not perfect were usuable.......
These are the spares that went with the bike, including original owners manual, and tool kit. The tool kit was missing a couple of items which I wasn't aware of.Guess that's what Bob calls misleading. You can see in this pic what a DENT looks like in a gas tank, Bob...
This pic on my web site stated the forks are clean, but would look great polished, although I imagine they need fresh oil after all these years. ..
Bob complained they forks are pitted and needed oil due to leakage..hummmm....thought I just addressed that. Anyone see any pits?
About the only thing Bob didn't complain about was the rust on the crate..
Once the bidding hit the $ 500.00 mark, I emailed each bidder and asked if they had any specific questions, as I had no idea what potential buyer's might want to know. Bob asked if the kickstand was bent due to the bike being parked on a piece of wood. I had the wood there to place the bike in an upright position. I compared the kickstand to a spare I had and it looked the same to me. However in retrospect, I did not look at the bracket. It's possible that the bracket could be bent and that might have been the crux of Bob's question. I honestly don't know. So Bob, if you read this, I told you it was not bent, but perhaps the bracket is. At any rate this was the ONLY question Bob asked. As the bidding increased, Bob said he was approaching the ceiling on his funds. I told him only he could determine if he needed to keep bidding, as several others were in the hunt at that time.I was trying to point out if he needed to back off, that's fine...however he continued to bid..
Couldn't have boxed it without help from the shipping and recieving manager.....
Shipping assistant recieved no complaints.....whew!!
Packing crew worked late into the night to get this one ready to ship out the following day...
Some cardboard from my friends furniture store, and glad wrap from the wife's kitchen....and it's ready to load...and take to forward air. F/A charged $ 154.00 to take from Nashville, Tn to Windsor Locks Ct..very reasonable....Bob sent $ 200.00 to cover freight above and beyond the $ 950.00 purchase price. The difference was rebated the next day in the form of a postal money order. Bike was crated, and delivered to Forward Air at my expense. Bobs total investment came to $ 1104.00 and change. Yes that's a lot of money, but roughly $ 300.00 to $ 400.00 under market value for a model this complete and original..
Whew!Dad,,,that was fun..can I have my 5 bucks now?..
sure son.uugghh,,,,,can you take a post dated check?
For those of you who missed the auction, this is what Bob got....
Included is the tool kit, original owner's manual, as well a a shop manual to help keep it on the road....and yes I have a title obtained at great cost from the state . A lot of hoops to jump through to get a title from deceased previous owner's estate, but I do have it and it is clear in my name...just waiting for your signiature!
Need to make room for other bikes so.....
Minor health problems relucticantly have convinced me to part with this bike. I have some arthitic issues with my knees and hips and quite honestly is is getting almost impossible for me to start this beast due to the compression. I have located a couple of other vintage hondas with electric starters, so someone will have the chance to be the third owner in 25 years of this xl 350....
NOT A CONCOURS BIKE, BUT VERY CLEAN FOR THE YEAR..A TRUE SURVIVOR
bike has little if any off road service.......
Spares that go with the xl 350....
So your the new owner and just dying to rip in the woods, or trails with your new toy...but what if i crash and ruin that perfect seat, or dent the tank, or trash the exhaust? Well included are these spares to put on the bike and keep the mint stuff from getting damaged. A tank from a '76 xl 250 (same as 350), fair but usuable seat, modified exhaust, and front fender from a 76 xl 350. also pictured are the owners manual and tool kit. Also have a spare side cover not pictued with the xl 350 decal to fit the nos sidecover on the bike. Tank will need cleaning but not scaled inside and you will need to use the petcock and cap from original tank. There may be other small spares lying around that I will include should i run across them in cleaning the shop.....
Looks good doesn't it.....
The side cover on this side is cracked, the only blemish to an otherwise near perfect bike. THE COVER IS MISSING A VERY SMALL PIECE IN THE LOWER R/H CORNER AND THE UPPER R/H PIN IS BROKEN OFF, ALTHOUGH I DO HAVE IT AND IT MAY BE POSSIBLE PLASTI-WELD IT ON. I PUT THE COVER ON FOR THE PHOTO, USUALLY I LEAVE IT OFF AS IT'S SOMEWHAT BRITTLE FROM AGE. THE COVER ON THE OTHER SIDE IS NOS WITH A MINOR SCRATCH AND NOT BRITTLE AT ALL....
Not a 10, but oh so very close !!!!
As for any known problems,as I mentioned early on the bike has a tendency to run rich. If your not careful and get the starting procedure down, you can flood the bike somewhat and it will blow a little black smoke until it clears itself out. Even after two years, I still don't get it right every time. Prior to the previous owners death, he had his neighbor do some work on the bike. I have no knowledge what he did as the bike is so original, however the motor has been opened up for some reason as there were remnants of sealent visible around the side cases. I replaced the clutch and cleaned the oil slinger, although there wasn't much in there. The previous owners mother and sister remembered the neighbor working on it, but little else. I did meet the man once and admired his immaculate Triumph as he was into British bikes, so I gather he was a fairly good mechanic. I mention all this to be as accurate as possible on the condition of the bike. I ride this around town on weekends and other than running rich it seems to be as normal as it should. It has quite a bit more power than my 75 xl 250. I do know it has tremendous compression, so plan on using a healthy right foot to start it. Although the tires are original, and have most of the tread left, they are weather checked from age and should be replaced. I have had no problems with them, but I have only ridden this around town, and not over 50 mph. I've tried to list all that I know about this bike, so if you have specific questions, by all means email for a quick response. Thanks for looking, and feel free to check out the other pages for some really nice old bikes that belong to friends of mine...

No attempt was made to restore this bike, other than cleaning it and a few oil changes of Castrol 20/50, it is pretty much the way I bought it two years ago. I added the spares just as I came across them...because you never know when you may need them.Everything goes with the bike pictured on this page. Bike is sold with no warrenty, and sold as is.I can help with delivery up to 150 mile radius of Nashville, Tn. Crating and shipping can be discussed if new owner is too far for delivery. .....Email with questions....deltas69@bellsouth.net.......Thanks for looking......
