TOP PIC IS THE BIKE AS I GOT IT..

I gave  $40.00 dollars for it..it had good compression..so i fugured i was just gas and fire away from getting it running

Although fairly complete, it had seen better days. I decided to take it down and build back to what I wanted..
I bought a 69 CL 175 K3 when i worked at the local Honda shop back in HIgh School..so I though I would duplicate one from this '72 model
To quote John Candy in Stripes..."we were on our way to the bingo parlor..and the directions got all fouled up"...so it's not a perfect copy of the '69 CL 175 I bought back in high school..but good enough to make it to the Sonic for cruise in night..
Still need to do some fine detail work..and get a seat that fits the tank better..but she runs perfect,..and everything works...
Side cover was still in the paint booth...

All the paint is strictly "rattle cans" I wanted to see just how good someone could restore a bike without leaving the back yard..

For a backyard resto and paint job...not bad..
New NOS parts include both fenders, and complete exhaust..heat shield is  not new, but nice...seat is used, but not damaged..I shot it with a light coat of SEM vinal dye to freshen it up..and new trim nuts...then added the Honda logo..new Cheng Shin tires front and rear with a vintage tread...
NEW SMALLER TURN SIGNALS, ON BOTH ENDS..
i STARTED OUT BY BUYING A TON OF OEM SIGNALS OFF EBAY TO MAKE THIS AUTHENIC..BUT NEVER REALLY DID LIKE THEM AS THEY WERE SO BIG...SO I FOUND A SET OF AFTERMARKET SIGNALS THAT SCREWED RIGHT IN TO THE HEADLIGHT LIKE THEY WERE MADE FOR IT...PUT IN A 12 VOLT FLASHER FROM AUTO ZONE....THERE YA GO..
'69 CL 175 K3..

This is what I started out to replicate, although mine was candy blue in color..during the process..I found several small differences in the frame and side covers, etc that were different from '69 to '72 resulting in a "MacGyver"  here and there..all in all..still turned out rather nice for a first effort...

For the XL lover...

If you made it this far...here's the '77 XL 350 I used to have. Had to sell because I just couldn't kick the beast any more...bad knees and hips...the CL 175 has an electric starter...I love it !!!  Thanks for looking....pj
